I wrote this song a couple years ago.

After the election of Donald Trump it seemed as though hate crimes were on the rise and respect for one another was replaced by vulgar tribalism and culture lines.

I wanted to make a statement that said in essence we’re all In this together.

At the end I use a Sly and the Family Stone quote that he felt needed to be said in 1969, here we are in 2020 and It unfortunately needs to be repeated.

lyrics

Our World Is On Fire

All aboard...
The Revolution.
First stop, Detroit...
Chicago, Los Angeles,
Minneapolis, New York...

Everybody learns
when we talk about history.
All we ever wanted
was a little peace and harmony.
Show me love show unity.
Respect you, respect me.

Now we turn the page
everybody seems to understand.
We’re all in this thing together,
twenty-first Century man.
Bright future all Gods children
holding hands
we had a dream, we had a dream.

Our world is on fire.
It can’t get much higher
When we lie to our youth,
it’s the ultimate abuse.

We’re all birds pretty birds of a feather
Fly or die sink or swim
good or bad stormy weather.

Let’s get high and talk about
all the things we can do together
I’m with you, if you’re with me.

Back in the day
we used to sing about
love and peace,

peace not war all this hatred
it has to cease.

Every color you’re my brother
together we stand
divided we fall
till the last man oh yeah.

Our world is on fire. It can’t get much higher. When we lie to our youth, it’s the ultimate abuse.

We gotta
Save you from me yeah.
We gotta
Save me from myself uh.
We gotta
save us for the future
So we don’t
burn up in hell oh yeah

Don’t call me nigger whitey
Don’t call me whitey nigger
Don’t call me nigger whitey
Don’t call me whitey nigger nigger nigger.
